"When I applied for the Programme, I said I was interested in a technical role because I wanted to use my degree and Assurity made it happen. I was assigned to a client site for training and then offered a role as a Performance Test Engineer.

I’m currently at Inland Revenue in the Performance team with six other Performance Test Engineers working on different projects/products. We have daily stand-ups where we update everyone of what we’re doing, our next tasks, and if anything’s blocking us. There’s constant support from the team too – and lots of laughter! Assurity people are amazing, very approachable and friendly with so much passion, skills and expertise.

What I really like about my job is the idea that what I’m doing now will have an impact on the people of New Zealand. My team ensures that the system’s performance will meet users’ needs, is robust and won’t take forever to complete a task. I personally like coding to mimic users’ behaviour, as well as analysing the system's performance after executions.

I’d advise grads looking to apply for Assurity’s Graduate Programme to really research what Assurity does, its principles and culture and consider hard if this is what they want for their future career. Having the right technical skills is an advantage so, if you do have them, be confident and showcase them when you apply! Feel free to inquire and ask questions too, even before applying."
