Code Club is holding its first Mashup in Wellington on 18 August at Te Papa with more than 350 children, parents and teachers now signed up to attend the fully subscribed event.
The Mashup, for which Assurity is a key sponsor, is designed to expose young people to creating solutions with technology beyond coding.
It will focus on getting the children to apply their new knowledge and technology and engage in problem solving to generate real-world solutions to modern-day problems.
Mentors will be on hand from various Wellington technology companies to help teams through the day – from learning the basics of coding through to the various technology break-out sessions and solution generation. The afternoon will finish with teams presenting their solution to the rest of the group, with prizes given for the most innovative idea.
Students in years 5, 6, 7 and 8 will get the most out of the day, with parents, teachers and non-techies who are keen to learn more about coding encouraged to come along.
If you like working with kids, cool gadgets and apps, have an interest in technology and experience with coding, marketing, ideas development or just basic problem-solving, sign up as a mentor for the day on the Code Club Mashup website.
